Lauren A. Broccoli

Lauren A. Broccoli brings a unique background to Lewis-Burke that combines federal communications, legislative and political expertise. Additionally, her experience clerking for the Governor of Rhode Island enhances Lewis-Burke’s capabilities at the intersection of federal and state policy, and political communications.

As leader of the environmental sciences policy group, Ms. Broccoli overseas a broad portfolio ranging from ocean sciences to agriculture.  Her agency expertise spans the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), as well as interagency bodies like the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP). 

Ms. Broccoli interacts closely with Capitol Hill and federal agencies to advance clients’ federal advocacy efforts through coalition building, developing congressional champions, engaging in the congressional appropriations process, and orchestrating large scale events.  Her expertise enables clients to be proactive on issues ranging from coastal resilience, oil spill response and restoration, offshore wind energy research, ecosystem and natural infrastructure sustainability, water quality and management, climate change, aquaculture, and ocean acoustics. 

Prior to joining Lewis-Burke, Ms. Broccoli served in the office of Congressman James Langevin as both Press Aide and a Congressional Aide. In these roles, she not only gained insight into policy development and the legislative process but also became adept at distilling and communicating complex legislative issues. Her experience includes work on a broad range of issues including: education policy, appropriations, cybersecurity, agriculture and healthcare. While on Capitol Hill, she also contributed to innovative communications strategies to enhance the Congressman’s policy profile and constituent interactions.

A trained lawyer, Ms. Broccoli augments Lewis-Burke’s reputation for detailed regulatory and policy analysis. Ms. Broccoli also brings political insight fostered through her work on a U.S. Senate campaign.

She studied communications with a concentration in public relations at Boston University, received her Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University Law and was admitted to the New York State Bar. Keeping contact with her home state, Ms. Broccoli serves on the executive board for the State Society of Rhode Island.
