Regulatory Relief for Biomedical Research Client
Lewis-Burke Associates LLC (LBA) received notification that the Office for the
Protection of Research Risks (OPRR) was investigating the research protocols
at one of our university institutions. (WHY?) OPRR had previously shut down the
research at another university and was threatening to halt research funds for
our client. At LBA's request, the client scheduled an emergency meeting with
?WHOM? to discuss strategy to prevent a shutdown. We notified the Congressional
delegation to garner support for continuing the funding, contacted local organizations
whose members would be affected by the research, reviewed OPRR's regulatory authority
and scheduled briefings directly with the director of the OPRR. By intervening
so early in the investigation, LBA was able to help prevent interruption in the
important research conducted at the university. |
