Lewis-Burke Associates

Case Study: Coalition Building

Coalition Created to Advance Weather Research

To help achieve the client's goal of expanding support for weather research from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Lewis-Burke Associates, LLC created a coalition of academic, industry, and emergency management organizations to advocate for an enhanced competitive, extramural research program.  Lewis-Burke led the effort to convince three disparate communities of the importance of working together in support of these efforts which led to the creation of the Weather Coalition.  With a growing membership that includes several leading companies and organizations, the Weather Coalition has had increasing success in advocating for this new program.  Legislation is currently pending that would establish this new research effort at NOAA.
