Wendy Naus Presents at AMS 90th Annual Meeting
An expert in federal policy pertaining to weather, climate and atmospheric research, Wendy A. Naus participated in two panel discussions during the 90th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society(AMS) in January, 2010.
First, Ms. Naus took part in a town hall meeting sponsored by the Weather Coalition on the weather and climate priorities of the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress, and outlined how those priorities map with the interests of the atmospheric sciences community. Specifically, Ms. Naus discussed the issues and legislation atop the Administration and Congress’s agendas for the coming year and ways in which the scientific community can engage in these activities to promote their priorities.
As part of AMS’s 5th Symposium on Policy and Socio-Economic Research, Ms. Naus participated in a panel discussion entitled, Working with Congress. During this session, panelists described the different methods used to advocate for scientific research. Ms. Naus provided the perspective of a Washington, D.C. based government relations firm about the tactics used to advocate for science and research on behalf of Lewis-Burke clients.
